Making money on Fiverr is one of the easiest ways to make money on the side. It doesn’t require much time. And despite the name Fiverr suggesting it’s all about making $5, you can actually make some high ticket sales on Fiverr as well.
In this post we’re going to cover how to make money on Fiverr with some high ticket sales in the $300-$600 USD range, which will only take you a couple of hours (max) to do.
First of all, what is Fiverr? It’s a site which originated as a marketplace where people were will to do different things for $5. For example, a voiceover, a drawing, a video, a translation, etc. However, it has evolved and progressed into a really cool marketplace which is now well beyond the $5 price tag. Many things that are sold there are in the $30 – $500 range.

How To Make Money On Fiverr
So even though I was never a fan of Fiverr when it was mainly about the $5 products, I really like the Fiverr model now.
Some of the best things to sell are those which sell for $100+. It’s just not worth your time to sell $5 items, unless you live in a country where the cost of living is very low.
But you definitely don’t have to just settle for $5. Here are some things which you can sell to make money on Fiverr which will give you a lot more per hour of your time:
- “Explainer” style videos. Used in sales pages and website pages. They go for $30 – $50 USD per 30 seconds, typical video is 5 minutes so that’s $300 – $500 per video. Takes about 2-3 hours to create.
- Whiteboard style sales videos. They are typically used in sales pages on websites. They sell for $20-30 USD per seconds. Takes 1-2 hours to create.
- Animated videos. Used in various places online. They go for $30 – $50 USD per 30 seconds, typical video is 5 minutes so that’s $300 – $500 per video. Takes about 2-3 hours to create.
How do you actually create those videos? Well, there are software services which will help you do that. Even if you don’t know anything about animation, you don’t need to worry. You’ll be able to learn how to create professional videos in 4-5 hours.
One of those sites that makes animation easy is Powtoon. It’s as easy to use as MS PowerPoint. Of course, if you’re completely computer-illiterate, it may be challenging. But if you know how to use a computer comfortably, you’ll have no issues picking up Powtoon in a day by going through the tutorials.
Another service which you can use for Whiteboard-style videos is VideoScribe. It also is very simple to use.
Once you’ve got those tools, you can create a super-professional looking video in a couple of hours. And… you can sell it for $300-$600. Pretty cool, right?
Implement these steps to make money on Fiverr:
- Open a Fiverr.com account
- Search for “whiteboard video”, “explainer video” and “animated video”
- Explore the gigs that come up
- Analyze which ones have more than 30 “reviews” (watch out for little stars when you put the mouse over that gig)
- Shortlist 5-10 great gigs
- Create your own gigs based on the ones you’ve shortlisted
- Set up your profile similarly to how the profiles of shortlisted sellers are set up
- Done – wait for orders
Now… the “secret sauce” is that if you want to jump-start your traffic and sales, you’ll need to build up a bit of reputation and history. What that means is you’ll have to ask your friends or family to order your gigs through Fiverr. This is a little bit sneaky, but from my research this seems to be a normal thing to do. So you can adjust your price and make it $5 or $10 for those initial 5-10 orders from your friends. After you’ve had the orders, you’ll need to ask them to leave you positive reviews. That will jump-start your profile, give you 5-star ratings and will give you sales numbers so your gig starts ranking.
