It’s all go go go, as parents, we take care of the kids first and foremost and after that? Then we focus on work, making sure we are performing our duties in our careers too. It can leave us tired, and in fact, it can also mean that we are letting our health take a bit of a beating without even noticing. Here are a couple of things you can do to keep yourself in the best condition.
#1 Make sure you are hydrated
It seems like such a simple thing, but the truth is most of us are dehydrated to some degree. It has an impact on all of our functions, and we can become more tired, grumpy, have trouble concentrating and rather than reach for water we might reach for coffee. Less than ideal. So invest in a water bottle and make sure you are having a few refills per day.
#2 Sleep
Getting the right amount of rest enables our bodies to recuperate properly and for us to process what we’ve been through in the day mentally. Aside from the energy replenishment, it also heals you, keeps your immune system healthy and good sleep helps to regulate your appetite. All good things. So make sure you are getting a healthy amount of sleep per night and heading to bed with a book rather than with some tech.
#3 Take care of your back
If you are sitting at a computer for extended period of time, you might find that you are beginning to slump. This slumping can lead to lower backache, long-term pain and discomfort, and it has an impact on your digestive system. That lousy posture also impacts your chances of cardiovascular issues too. Check out a Chiropractor in Bradenton Florida, and get any current back issues taken care of, then invest in a posture correcting seat back for where you spend the most time.
#4 Fresh air
You don’t have to be the most sporty person to head out and breath in some fresh air. We quickly become bored going between our place of work and then home. Make sure you are booking some time in areas you haven’t seen before or at least taking some time out in your local green spaces. Being outdoors helps to reboot your creativity, can be a source of inspiration, and is deeply relaxing. All of which improve your health with relatively little effort.
#5 Lastly…
Unleash the inner geek. Whatever it is that you love to do – playing board games, playing computer games, reading, painting, gardening – whatever it is, totally indulge yourself in it. Making time for our hobbies and the things that bring us joy without pressure is really important for our mental health. When we find the things we love to do, they don’t come with any pressure or stress and THAT is something that shouldn’t be left to languish.
So make some time to take some simple steps to taking care of yourself in these easy steps.
